The latest Threats and what to do

I wanted to give you a heads up on the latest hacker Scams to be on the look out and how to react.

#1 - Apple, Microsoft, Windows and the IRS will NEVER give you a call offering to help fix your iCloud, Apple devices, Windows, or collect money. These scammers are relentless. JUST HANG UP or ask for their phone number so that your IT Consultant can give them a call back. Their goal is to start a remote control session on your computer or tablet so that they can scan your computer for passwords and account numbers and leave an infection behind.

#2 - You are surfing the Internet and suddenly your Internet Browser freezes, you hear loud beeping and a screen pops up reporting that you are infected and to call the number on the screen to remove the infection. If you call the number they will convince you to let them remote into your computer or tablet at which time they will scan your computer for passwords and account numbers and leave an infection behind. POWER OFF YOUR COMPUTER. Your computer will likely be unresponsive so you will have to hold down your computer power button until it is completely off. You can then safely power your computer back on. Also run your antivirus/anti-malware program. These Scammers purchase Domain names similar to popular sites but with minor misspellings. They also infect legitimate websites and will pop-up if you click a particular link.

Except for legitimate Technical Support that you are contacting directly, only your Trusted IT provider (me) should be allowed to remotely login to your computer or tablet.
